PUOLUKKA – LINGONBERRY
Lingonberry (or cowberry, puolukka in Finnish) resembles cranberry in look and taste but it is smaller and tangier. It is evergreen shrub native to boreal forest and Arctic tundra throughout the Northern Hemisphere from Eurasia to North America. In Scandinavia they picked in the wild and used to accompany a variety of dishes. It's Swedish based name lingon derives from the Norwegian word lyngr which means heather.
